Welcome to Career Advisor. This web site contains important information about your work, your life and your future. It helps you answer crucial questions like:

At this age and stage of my career, what are the most critical determinants for career success and satisfaction?
What are the new rules for career success?
As a manager, how can I meet the needs of the new worker?
How can I restore balance in my over-committed work and personal life?
How can I career-proof my kids to ensure their future success?

All of us are grappling with different issues. Check out the different menu pages, and select the areas most relevant to your needs at this point in time.

Navigating Career Advisor

This is an extremely easy and intuitive web site to get around in. On each menu page you will find synopses of the modules on the left-hand side of the page. In the right-hand column there is a description of additional components to that module, for example, quizzes, self-assessments and tips: these are not links.

The links are contained in the synopses.

Confidentiality

Career Advisor is completely confidential. No one will have information on what you are reading, or what you write in the exercises: all your entries disappear when the session ends (which is why you need to email them back to yourself in order to save them).

Tips on Getting The Most Out of Career Advisor

Pace Yourself: Select the issues most relevant to you. Try to set aside about 15 minutes of uninterrupted time (some modules will take longer, some less.) You may want to do more than one module at a time, but you don’t have to do everything at once.

Complete the Quizzes and Exercises: You will get much more out of Career Advisor if you take the time to answer the questions and complete the quizzes that are associated with some of the modules. (Not every module has an exercise attached.)

There Are No Right or Wrong Answers: In completing the exercises and quizzes, only you know what’s true of you.

Save Your Work: When you complete an exercise, you will need to save the work on your own computer (it will not be saved on the Career Advisor system.) Just click on the "email me" button. Your work will then be sent to the email address you used to log on to the system.

Create A Portfolio: We suggest creating a folder on your computer called "My Personal Career Portfolio" in which to save your thoughts, ideas and strategies.

Check for Periodic Updates -- new modules, tips and exercises.

Take Time and Invest Effort: Work plays a critical role in how we feel about ourselves and ultimately how effective we are as individuals, partners and parents.

You’re important. This is about your work, your life and your future. Invest the time and effort that you deserve.
